|Hotel Pironi, Cannobio
My interest was taken by the pointed shape of this 16th century building located not far from the shore of Lake Maggiore, Italy. The light was poor and I did not have much time as a very violent thunder storm began a couple of minutes after I took this image.
Image of a “Green Man” sculpture at the National Memorial Arboretum on a very wet day.
|Orta San Guilio
A beautiful place on a beautiful day looking over to Isola San Guilio on Lake Orta, Italy.
|Storm Clouds on the Matterhorn
Views of the Matterhorn free from cloud cover are rare but I think the storm clouds add some drama to this image.
|Via Umberto, Cannobio
A view down this historic thoroughfare looking towards Lake Maggiore. I think monochrome really highlights the detail in this image.
| Horses in Zermatt
Two beautiful grey horses having a chat whilst waiting for their next canter around the streets of Zermatt with some very lucky passengers.
|Isola San Guilio
A view of this magical island on Lake Orta in Northern Italy from high on the Eastern bank clearly showing the Basilica and the Convent.
| Villa Taranto Gardens
These majestic and quite stunning Botanical gardens on the edge of Lake Maggiore were founded and developed by Scotsman Captain Neil McEacharn starting in 1931. He said his dream was to create a specimen English garden in Italy to remind him of Scotland. He certainly fulfilled his dream.
